Our Philosophy

Our club strives to be active in all phases of community service.  In the past we have donated bullet proof vests for Forsyth County and Lumpkin County K-9 officers.    The club has donated a bite suit for Lumpkin County and has distributed a supply of animal resuscitation masks to Cherokee County, Hall County, City of Gainesville, Dawson County and Lumpkin County Fire Departments or First Responders.  Additionally K-9  training suits for Forsyth County, special ballistic and stab proof K-9 vests for the 2 bomb dogs in Hall County, bullet-proof vests and cool vests  for the K-9 dogs in Gainesville, Habersham, White, Dawson,  Lumpkin and Cherokee Counties have been provided for the health and protection of the K-9 officers.

In order to further the mission and dedication of the club to animal assistance, SMKC contributes to community, state and national dog related organizations. Dawson County Human Society, Humane Society of Forsyth County, AHIMSA House, and  breed rescue groups have received support.

The club annually supports the advancements in canine health and research through contribution to AKC Canine Health Foundation, Rabies Challenge Fund, UGA Sundown Surgery Fund, UGA Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Fund, and Tufts Medical Center (Canine Gastric Cancer Research).

The club is active with Disaster Preparedness and Dog Owner Responsibility education.  SMKC has donated to the AKC Pet Disaster Relief Fund which provides emergency trailers, and supplies for displaced dogs during disasters managed by the emergency management organizations of the states and counties.

Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club continues to support the sport of dogs with owner education programs, health clinics, and promotion of welfare.
