Established in 1988, Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the purebred dog and to provide and promote canine education to the community.
As an AKC licensed all-breed club SMKC is based in Cumming, GA and our area includes, Forsyth, Dawson and Hall Counties. The club is a member of the Lake Lanier Cluster with Lawrenceville KC. The Cluster shows include Conformation, Fast CAT and other events.
Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club membership meetings are typcially held on the second Wednesday of each month. AKC Sanctioned Shows, Events, and Trials are held through out the year, in Hall, Forsyth and Dawson county facilities.

Lisa Favre, a long time member of SMKC passed away November 07, 2025.
Lisa had a dedication toward the Kerry Blue Terrier and produced numerous AKC champion Kerry Blue Terriers. Her main objective was to produce the loving family pet. Lisa was always willing to volunteer wherever needed. She will be missed.

CLASSES:
Handling and Rally Classes are held Tuesdays (except the 2nd Tuesday of each month) at Atlanta Dogworks,
1690 Julius Bridge Rd., Ball Ground, GA 30107

Handling Class: 7:00pm - 8:00pm. $15 for SMKC Members, $20 for NonSMKC Members
Rally Class: 8:15pm - 9:15pm. $90 for a 6 week session. or $15 for SMKC Members, $20 for NonSMKC Members. Courses included are Novice, Intermediate, Advanced.
ATTENTION CLUB MEMBERS – OLD AND NEW PLEASE HELP AND SUPPORT YOUR CLUB-Please sign up to help.
All club members are invited to please support your club at the Lake Lanier Cluster Shows. There are many areas where you can volunteer, if just for a few hours. We will need help in setting up several areas including Conformation, helping with catalog sales, Hospitality, and generally filling in to relieve others or run errands. The Fast CAT field can always use volunteers throughout the day.

The December Christmas Party will be on Thursday, December 18 at TACO MAC IN DAWSONVILLE, 314 MARKET PLACE BLVD, DAWSONVILLE, GA (Kroger shopping center). Please RSVP to Pat Albro @ Boniglen@yahoo.com.
We will again have a “Dirty Santa” gift exchange. If you wish to participate, Please bring a new wrapped dog themed gift valued at $25.00 or more.
The club will provide dinner for Members up to $25. All alcoholic beverages must be on A separate tab and are your responsibility.
We will also be collecting food, treats, small fleece blankets, towels, stainless steel bowls and buckets and beds for a local rescue. Some of these items can be used. They need to be clean and in good condition.
